Muncho Lake Park is a serene, secluded area with stunning natural landscapes, conveniently close to the Alaska Highway. Spectacular mountains, bountiful wildlife, and brilliant wildflowers can all be viewed here. In the southern part of the park, the unique limestone formations of Folded Mountain tower above the road. As you travel north on the highway, keep an eye out for moose and Stone sheep. Soon, you will reach Muncho Lake. The lake’s deep cold waters, coloured jade by minerals, stretch for 12 km. These waters are home to lake trout, arctic grayling, bull trout, and whitefish. Having reached Muncho Lake, you can spend the night at Strawberry Flats Campground. Visitors have a good chance of seeing deer or moose which frequent the park during the winter.

Summit Lake Park is a beautiful 6 hectare park located with in the Nakusp range of the Selkirk Mountains. Park visitors enjoy canoeing, fishing for rainbow and cutthroat trout or swimming in the lake’s clear, refreshing water. The mountainous backdrop of the park is a stage to the wonders of nature. A natural spectacle occurs as thousands of toads emerge from the lake and migrate to the nearby forest to hibernate for the winter. Charlie Cole Creek Ecological Reserve was established for preservation of unique cone-shaped cold-water mineral springs used by ungulates as salt licks. Ecological reserves protect special natural ecosystems, and support research and education. They are not intended for outdoor recreation. However, this ecological reserve is open to the public for non-destructive activities like hiking, nature observation and photography. Consumptive activities like hunting, fishing, camping, or foraging are prohibited. Motorized vehicles are not allowed.

Moberly Lake Park is situated on the southern shore of Moberly Lake which is found on the boundary between the Rocky Mountain foothills to the west and the Peace plateau to the east. The lake itself lies in a broad shallow valley of the Moberly River, about 96km from its junction with the Peace River. Enjoy a leisurely stroll along the lakeshore and pull up a bench to watch the sunset. Stop and visit the park’s interpretation kiosk to learn about the local flora, fauna and history. While you are there, take time to listen to the loons or look overhead for bald eagles. Head down to the lake for a swim or to test your luck fishing for northern pike, lake trout and lake whitefish.

Kleanza Creek Park is located amongst the forests and rock canyons in the Coast Mountains. Occupying frontage on the Skeena River and on both sides of Kleanza Creek, the park is of historical significance. Kleanza means gold in the Gitxsan language and it was this metal that influenced the early history of the park site. Placer mining for gold was first carried out in the creek in the late 1890s.

The small lake offers pleasant non-motorized boating opportunities as well as fairly good fishing for average sized rainbow trout. The lake is periodically stocked with Pennask strain rainbows. Boat access to the lake is only possible for car top boats via a short trail. Please note that motorized boats are not permitted on this lake.

During the late summer portions of the sandy river bottom are exposed and provide opportunity for a scenic walk along the river. Anglers may have some luck with catching rainbow trout, whitefish or bull trout, however the river remains murky year round due to glacial feeding. This site is located on the shores of Hambone Lake and offers space for 4 camping parties. The basic amenities of tables, fire rings and pit toilets are provided. There is a natural boat launch suitable for small boats. Anglers may have success catching wild rainbow trout.

This small site is located on a terraced area along the shores of Wolverine Lake. There is a natural boat launch that offers access to the lake for car top boats, and the lake offers good opportunities for paddlers to explore the shorelines. Anglers may have luck with natural stocks of various fish species. The site provides the basic amenities of a pit toilet, tables and fire rings. This site is ~170kms from Mackenzie so come prepared.

Boating/paddling, hunting and fishing are common activities in this area. There are rainbow trout in Lund Lake for anglers.
