Small campgrounds

A 8-unit campground in a forested setting along the shores of Silverthorne Lake, near the town of Houston. Notable features include a picnic shelter with wood stove and picnic tables, sandy beach, an island in the middle of the lake, and extensive trails connected to the Morice Mountain Nordic Ski Area. The campsites are spread out along the shoreline. The lake is not a good fishing lake but popular for paddling and swimming.

This is a small open area rec site with 5 designated sites and a boat launch. It is located beside the Gavin Lake Education Center, and we request users respect the centers facilities. The site is also the start of the new trail around the lake, which includes 800m of low mobility boardwalk and a bridge over the inlet creek. Bring your Mountain Bike, the trails across the road have been expanded to include some single track bike trails. The site also has low mobility trail and outhouse.

ATTENTION: Trail network is open, although some trails remain closed for post-fire danger tree assessments and falling. This small picturesque park on the north side of Denman Island offers an idyllic location to enjoy a picnic and spend a quiet afternoon. The land that is now Fillongley Park was bequeathed to the province of British Columbia by George Beadnell, an Englishman who settled here at the turn of the century. Over the years, Beadnell developed Fillongley into one of the most beautiful estates in the Gulf Islands. A large, flat grassy field, once the site of a bowling green, comes alive with vibrant wildflowers in the spring. A pretty lake with mountain views. There are 15 sites located here with 1 good boat launch at the notherm end of the lake. Activities include canoeing,swimming and fishing. A 3.2 km trail (one way) on the north end of the lake leads past the walk in Noel Lake campsite and to Lost Lake campsite that is a nice, intermediate difficulty rated hike.

ACCESS TO SKWELLEPIL CREEK REC SITE IS HIGH CLEARANCE 4X4 ONLY. THREE LARGE WATERBARS HAVE BEEN DUG INTO THE ENTRANCE AS OF SUMMER 2022. Skwellepil Creek campsite has changed status to a wilderness site only. This designation means it is still open to the public but no maintenance services will be provided. Available campsite locations will also be reduced. Sites are first come first serve, no reservation system is in place. Please be respectful and pack it in, pack it out. The access road to this site will also receive minimal maintenance and access will be high clearance 4x4 only.

This small site is nestled along the eastern end of Narrow Lake and offers a scenic and peaceful setting for users. There is room for 5 camping parties and there is good access to the lake via an unimproved gravel boat launch with a gradual slope. The basic amenities of tables, fire rings and pit toilets are provided. The lake offers good fishing for rainbow trout, kokanee, and lake trout (lake trout fishing is catch and release only). The lake is seasonally closed to all fishing from Nov 1 - Apr 30.

Popular for fishing and hunting, the recreation site has a small number of campsites available. They are suitable for mid sized trailers as the camping sites themselves are quite large. There is also the Roscoe Lake trail that leaves near the boat launch and partially around the west side of Roscoe Lake to a lookout. Another trail leaves the Roscoe Trail and continues further on and over to Knight (Echo) Lake. Both trails are non-motorized.

This small site is in close proximity to Crystal Lake and offers space for 5 camping parties. The site provides the basic amenities of tables, fire rings and a pit toilet. A short footpath of 100 metres allows users to carry small boats to the water's edge. Anglers may have luck catching stocked rainbow trout.

This popular site is nestled in a small bay of Tudyah Lake and offers a beautiful natural setting only 4 km from Highway 97. There is space for 5 camping parties located amongst a mixed forest stand, and the basic amenities of tables, fire rings and a pit toilet are provided. There is a gravel boat launch suitable for both car top and trailered boats. Tudyah Lake offers good boating opportunities for both motor boats and non-motorized vessels. For anglers, the lake is known to hold wild stocks of rainbow trout and bull trout.

This easily accessible site is enjoyed year round for camping, swimming, fishing and ice fishing. There are 3 camping areas located immediately adjacent to the access road, and another 6 within the main portion of the site. The sites are situated amongst some beautiful Douglas Fir trees along the northern shores of the lake. The basic amenities of fire rings, picnic tables and pit toilets are provided. The lake is annually stocked with Blackwater and Horesefly strain rainbow trout. Motor boats may be used on the lake, but there is a 10HP limit in place.

This site is located in an open area on the shores of Grizzly Lake and offers the basic amenities of 2 pit toilets, tables and fire rings. There is an unimproved boat launch suitable for small car-top boats, and the lake offers decent fishing for rainbow trout. The lake is stocked annually with Pennask strain rainbows.

This scenic site is one of the most remote recreation sites in the Prince George/Mackenzie District (about 235 km off paved roads). The site is located right next to the waters of Uslika Lake and offers fantastic views of the surrounding mountains. The lake offers good fishing for wild stocks of a variety of species (rainbow trout, lake trout and bull trout). An unimproved gravel boat launch is available. The basic amenities of tables, fire rings and a pit toilet are provided.

This popular site is the third of the Tacheeda Lakes rec sites. Although still located in a scenic area along the shore, the site is located immediately adjacent to the main road. Some noise and dust from road traffic should be expected. There is space for 9 camping parties, and the basic amenities of tables, fire rings and pit toilets are provided. This site is located in an open environment on the shores of Manson Lake, near the community of Manson Creek. The basic amenities of a pit toilet, tables and fire rings are provided. A small gravel boat launch is available for car top and small trailered boats. The lake can offer some decent angling opportunities for lake trout, rainbow trout, bull trout and white fish. Please note that this site is 160 km from Mackenzie, so come prepared for a remote experience. Despite the remote nature of the site, it is a popular camping spot.

This small site is nestled amongst a mature spruce forest along the shores of Boundary Lake. Unfortunately this site has been subject to major spruce beetle attack, so many of the larger trees have been removed. The site is located along the terraced slopes near the shores of Tagai Lake and offers the basic amenities of tables, fire rings and pit toilets. There is an unimproved gravel boat launch that is ideal for car-top boats, but launching of smaller trailered boats is possible. The lake offers angling opportunities for wild rainbow trout and burbot.

A mid sized campsite-somewhat open on the large jade coloured Lillooet lake, with 2 small grassy areas. The lake is stocked annually with Pennask and/or Blackwater strain rainbow trout. The lake is a very popular fishing destination. Although the fishing can be challenging, persistent anglers may be rewarded with some nice sized trout.

Two small sites are nestled amongst some beautiful Douglas Fir trees along the terraced shores of Barton lake. There are two separate vehicle access points; the first site offers space for 5 groups and the second site (about 200 metres down the road) offers space for 2 groups. Just 25 minutes from Port McNeill, Clint Beek Recreation Site is located on beautiful Keogh Lake. A popular summer destination for island residents, this site was built by MacMillan Bloedel in the late 1990's and named after Clint Beek - a prominent member of the community and long-time employee of M&B. Upgraded in the Spring of 2021, Gosling Lake Rec Site is a beautiful, quiet, lakeside site located along the Sayward Forest Canoe Route. The portage trail links Campbell Lake to the Gosling Lake portion of the route. This site is more appropriate for tents, campers and small trailers.

One of the few sites on the east side of the lake and it has a long access road. It is easy to launch a small or boat or canoe, and explore the many bays and beaches. This site is not suitable for large trailers and motorhomes.<br><br>

The only Rec site on Horsefly Lake, Prairie is made up of 3 small sites at lake level and more on the bench above the lake. This rec site serves as a good launch for fishing or exploring on Horsefly Lake. The boat launch is suitable for trailered boats, but turn-around room is limited due to campers near boat launch. Scout it out first. If you don't have a boat and like to hike, zip down to Suey Bay (opposite side of the lake behind the large island) and from there you can hike 2.7km over to Quesnel Lake via the Suey to Slate Bay Trail.

A small site along the banks of the Chilliwack River; accessed off the Chilliwack Lake Road. This site is not suitable for large RVs due to the gravel road access. The site is popular with anglers and has access to the Trans Canada Trail. The site is designed as a group site and can be reserved during camping season. Payment for camping permits are Cash Only. Within the Sayward Forest, Elk Bay is one of only two developed recreation sites with access to the ocean. There are two parts to the site: the main camping area with the boat launch and a smaller, two unit site located on the other side of the creek. There are great panorama vistas looking across Discovery Passage to Quadra and Sonora Islands and the mountains beyond.

Located on the shores of the scenic Johnstone Strait, not far from the Robson Bight Ecological Reserve. This shady site, near the north end of Whatshan Lake, is a good family site with opportunities for boating and fishing. The boat launch provides good access to the lake. Later in the season, the water of Whatshan Lake warms and is very pleasant swimming. There is a pea gravel and sand beach.

Lassie Lake is an attractive, medium-sized lake with a weedy, shallow shoreline with a few tiny coarse sand beaches. As you first enter the campsite you will find a gravelled boat launch straight ahead of you. The first campsite is located to the right of the boat launch, and the remainder lie further along the access road. The campsites are located in a medium-aged forest with huge veteran larches towering above. This site is very popular and full to capacity for most of the summer, and is also popular with hunters in the fall.

Gray Lake is a very popular site year round. The remains of an old railway trestle add to the scenery. The site has good access for swimming and includes a portage trail for the Sayward Forest Canoe Route. Expect canoeists venturing through the site enroute to their next destination. This is a popular fishing destination that is easily accessible for most vehicles, even larger trailers and motorhomes. Located near the town of Smithers, a medium-size semi-forested site on the southern shore of Chapman Lake. There are 12 campsites, a large gravel boat launch, and a land based dock. Several campsites are good for RV's/trailers and larger groups. Chapman Lake has several species of fish and is a popular lake for fishing, paddling and boating. Two campsite areas are located on the north and south shores of Johnson Lake. The campsites are set in an open Ponderosa Pine and bunchgrass landscape. The north site is accessed by skirting the gravel pit along its south and west boundary. The lake edge here is marshy. The south site is more popular with its small sandy beach and picnic day use area and is accessible taking the left fork in the road at the gravel pit. There is good access for boats via an unimproved boat launch and the lake offers productive fishing for rainbow trout. The lake is annually stocked with Blackwater strain rainbows. About half of the sites offer space for large units, while the other half are more suitable for smaller units/tent sites.
