The Big Sheep Creek Recreation Site is hidden in a valley of the Rossland Range. The drive over Record Ridge and down into the Big Sheep Creek valley is one of the most scenic in the area. One wonders if Dewdney thought of this as he struggled over these same mountains, searching for a route to the gold fields in the east Kootenays. The recreation site, on the banks of Big Sheep Creek, will accomodate one vehicle. A good fishing hole is just 10 steps from the picnic table.
